What's new in Notchbird
Every release, newest first. Notchbird checks for updates once a day and installs them for you, on every plan.
0.8
- Approve from the notch. Answer Claude Code's permission prompts and multiple-choice questions with Allow and Deny, on this Mac or a machine over SSH. It is opt-in per machine and shows you the exact change to Claude Code's settings first. If Notchbird is not running or you do not answer in time, Claude Code asks in the terminal as usual.
- Automatic updates. Notchbird checks once a day and can install updates in the background. Find the controls in Settings → Privacy → Updates, or choose Check for Updates… from the menu bar.
- Licences and the free trial. 14 days with every feature, then a yearly, monthly or lifetime licence in Settings → Licence. A paid licence keeps working for 14 days offline.
- Plan your day out loud. Each morning, the first time you sit down, Notchbird asks a few short questions and sets up Today from your spoken answers, after reading the plan back to you. Transcribed on your Mac; skips itself during calls and screen sharing. Turn it off or change the time in Settings → Features → Plan my day.
- Works instantly on this Mac. Sessions on your Mac appear with no SSH alias and no demo mode to turn off. Add one SSH machine alongside it.
- Usage-limit meters. Claude Code and Codex 5-hour and weekly limits in the Inbox header, with a thin meter in the notch above 80% and one notice at 90%. Read from local files only.
- File shelf. Drop files, folders, links or text on the notch to keep them on a shelf, then drag them out into any app. Hold ⌥ while dropping to AirDrop instead. Turn it on in Settings → Features.
- Dark glass look. A new icon, a true-black island and one amber glow that means "needs you".
0.7
- Halo is now Notchbird. Settings and history move across on first launch.
- Nine sections: Today, Focus, Sounds, Audio, AirPods, Clipboard, Notes, Prompter and Weather, each one switchable.
- The status ring in the notch: quiet when all is well, a travelling glint while agents work, gold when something needs you. It also shows focus progress, volume and AirPods battery.
- Inline notices in the notch that fade by themselves, AirDrop by dropping a file on the notch, custom actions, and hiding from screen sharing by default.
- Performance budgets enforced on every build: 0.05% CPU at rest and under 120 MB of memory.
- Fixed: the app could freeze the first time the AirPods section asked macOS for Bluetooth access.
0.6
- One inbox for Codex chats and Claude Code sessions, grouped into needs you, finished and working, with one click to open the exact thread.
- Long Claude Code sessions keep their title and link, and finished sessions clear reliably.
